The Annual Parish Meeting of St. George Church was held on Sunday, February 23, 2020, following the Divine Liturgy and coffee hour. Parish Rector, Archpriest Igor Tarasov presided.
Church Warden, Olga Roussanow read the minutes of the last Annual Meeting held in 2019.
The Rector reported on financial situation. He pointed out that this time the parish received a number of generous donations that made its revenue higher than in the past year. Some of those contributions were due to the donations submitted by our neighbor who was allowed to park his trucks on the church premises. But much higher amounts were donated by other benefactors. These cheerful givers also covered all the costs of our renovations performed inside the church in the fall of 2019: installation of the new tile floor and of the electric heating baseboards. For that reason the said renovations were not even indicated in the financial report. But we did include other charitable contributions made by these people in our report as “Special donations” ($ 6,000 altogether). However, our own parishioners did not show the same generosity in supporting the parish. In fact, their contributions decreased in the year 2019 as compared to the previous years. Some of them did offer their time, labor and assistance in performing different parish activities, for which we all should be grateful. But financially members of the church do not really meet the demands of supporting it.
Our expenses in 2019 increased only due to the spending on Convocation of the Patriarchal Parishes which was attended by the Rector and by Parish Warden, as well as the gutter and roof repair performed in the summer.
The Warden reminded the parishioners of their duty to pay the parish dues of 2020. Several members made their membership contributions right away. Having no more matters to discuss the meeting was adjourned.
